CHICAGO - The Windy City!

Visited the Smithsonian Museum devoted to Native American culture this morning before I left Washington. An amazing exhibition that makes you realise the wealth of culture that was in danger of being lost.
Song plays a huge part in Native American ritual, and I found it very moving listening to these ancient songs.

23rd October 2011 on the Amtrak train for Chicago

Well, here we are on the train to Chicago. It’ll take almost 20 hours including a “sleepover”. It’s a beautiful day here and the sun is shining from a cloudless blue sky.

Visited the Smithsonian Museum devoted to Native American culture this morning before I left Washington. An amazing exhibition that makes you realise the wealth of culture that was in danger of being lost.

Song plays a huge part in Native American ritual, and I found it very moving listening to these ancient songs.

The train is speeding through the countryside with stops scheduled through the night. We’ll be getting fed by Amtrak as part of the deal so I’ll be able to report on this tomorrow.

The tour group is starting to get to know each other a little and with the evening to spend together I wouldn’t be surprised if some singing broke out!

I’ll make the report tomorrow before we arrive into the windy city.
